Mobility Scooter Ramps Give You Total Freedom

Now that you have your Shoprider mobility scooter you can finally get out and about and travel, it does not matter where you go, just being able to go it the most important part. Your scooter has made getting around the house and the yard much easier, you might even be able to ride it down the sidewalk to the local store. Now that you have your mobility back you want to be able to go further, but that means having to put your scooter in the van and the only way you can do that is with a set of mobility scooter ramps.

Your could of course have opted for one of those lightweight scooters that were made to break down into pieces so that you could stow it in the boot, but these models just do not stand up well and may not carry the weight you need them to. If you could just ride your scooter up a mobility scooter ramp and into your van things would be much easier for you all the way around and you would not always need to have an extra pair of hands to load your scooter up for the trip.

Lift Car Ramps

Mobility car scooter ramps come in a variety of styles depending on the vehicle you plan to use and the type of scooter you have. The most common ones used are intended for vans and have a lift motor that folds the mobility scooter ramps up and into place just inside the side door of the van out of the way.

You can get ramps that slide into a carrier rack under the van, buy unless you have someone with you to put the ramps away this style is not practical.

If you do not want to deal with the hassle of mobility scooter ramps there is an alternative that can make life much easier, you can have one the new mobility scooter lifts installed in your van. These lifts are available in different styles depending on the vehicle your are driving and how much you want to spend.

The least expensive is the hand operated lift which you mount on the rear of your vehicle and then tilt it down to the ground when you want to use it. You then drive your scooter up on the ramp, get off the scooter and lift the platform back into place, if you are not capable of lifting the weight of the platform and the scooter this would be a poor choice.

Electric Lifts

You can also buy electric lifts that store your scooter on an outside platform that work in a similar fashion to the manual lift. You simply drive your scooter up the mobility scooter ramps and onto the platform then get off your scooter. After securing your scooter in place you push a button and the platform raises up into place and stores your scooter there until you need it.

If you have a van or SUV the best choice is the lift that lets you ride your scooter into the van. With this style of lift you have a platform that you can ride your scooter up onto that will then lift you and your scooter so that you can ride the scooter into the vehicle. Once inside the lift platform hydraulically folds into place so the door can be closed. Now you and your scooter are safe inside out of the weather.

Whether you choose to go with some form of mobility scooter ramp or a lift you should choose the one that is going to make life as easy as possible for you so that you can enjoy the freedom of you new mobility scooter.
